Bring Out Those Soft Furnishings
Call me crazy but I love the Winter. I’m not over the moon about the cold, but I do love everything that comes with it.
The longer nights (and having a nosey into other people’s houses – we all do it!), and the feelings they bring. And the natural colours are incredible. Our trees and plants turn from bright greens to vibrant reds, oranges and yellows which I will never tire of seeing. If there’s ever a time to appreciate the beauty of nature, it’s now.
And let’s not forget our homes. This time of year is the perfect opportunity to bring out those soft furnishings. They are a clever way of changing up your space and style without breaking the bank.
Make Your Happy Place
I’ve said it before and I’ll say it again, I’m a big believer in using the seasons to change things up at home.
You can go as big or as small as you like but that change allows for something different. Something to admire, something to feel proud of; Something to get excited about, something that makes us smile.
In these strange times, we find ourselves spending more time at home than ever. It’s never been more important to create spaces we’re happy in. Whether it’s a lick of paint on the walls (never underestimate a lick of paint) or something as small as a new candle, if it allows you to enjoy that space more, do it.
As the Winter creeps in, cushions are the first thing I like to change. I recently swapped out my brighter, less textured cushions for those more comfy, textured, snuggle-up cushions.
One cushion however that stays all year round is my Fabric Palm cushion from @Inlehome. I adore this cushion. You get the best of both worlds with it. The main design is a big palm leaf which conveys brighter days, but the leaf itself is dark green and beautifully textured which has more of an Autumnal feel. Plus I just can’t bear to store it away. It’s a keeper.
Top Tip: Mix up the size and shape of your cushions. This allows for a more natural and inviting display.
Blankets & Throws
Autumn/Winter is also a great chance to bring out those blankets and throws. Is there anything better than getting nice and comfy on the sofa, wrapped up in your favourite blanket with your favourite hot drink watching your favourite boxset? Nope, not in our house.
Those soft furnishings will provide you with comfort and style. So pull them out of storage, whack them on your Christmas list or treat yourself!
However you do it, do it. Those little comforts will make our time at home a lot cosier, I can promise you that.
Look after each other and stay safe.
